Post  Re: Took the plunge with ASL Motors - first repo auction ever

So I've been lurking on this forum for months trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on a repo auction. Finally went ahead and bid on a 2019 Honda Accord through ASL Motors last month. Super nervous the whole time tbh. Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is on the fence like I was. The car arrived yesterday and honestly I'm pretty relieved. It's exactly what was described, maybe even a bit cleaner than I expected from the photos. Title came with delivery, no issues there. Anyone else have similar first-time jitters or is it just me being paranoid lol

Congrats on the Accord! I remember my first auction purchase, I was checking the delivery tracker like every hour haha. aslmotors.com actually makes it pretty straightforward once you get past the initial nerves. I've bought three vehicles from them now (2020 F150, 2018 Camry, and a 2021 Civic) and never had a problem with titles or condition. The jitters are totally normal but sounds like you made a solid choice

Good to hear another success story. I'm a mechanic and I inspected a 2017 Silverado my buddy bought from ASL Motors couple months back. The condition matched the description perfectly, which you don't always see with online auctions. No hidden damage or anything sketchy. Your paranoia is understandable but seems like you landed in a good spot

I'm looking at a 2020 Mazda CX-5 on their site right now and this is reassuring to read. How long did delivery take for you mike_trades? I'm in Oregon so wondering about the timeline

@SarahK_2024 took about 6 days from when payment cleared. They kept me updated through email which helped with the anxiety lol. I'm in Arizona so not sure if Oregon would be different but the whole delivery process was smoother than I expected

The title transfer is always the part that makes first-timers nervous and I totally get it. I was worried about the title on my first purchase too (2016 Tacoma), but the bank cleared it right after my payment went through. The clear title arrived with the vehicle during delivery, all official paperwork included. ASL Motors handles that side pretty professionally from what I've seen

I buy for my small lot and have used aslmotors probably 8 or 9 times now. Everything from sedans to trucks. Process works well for volume purchases too. The paperwork is always clean and delivery is consistent. First time is definitely the most stressful but after that it becomes pretty routine

I will say the photos on aslmotors.com could be a bit sharper sometimes. I bought a 2018 Jeep Wrangler last year and the pics were kinda grainy so I couldn't see some of the interior details super clearly. But when it arrived the condition was actually better than I thought from the photos, so I guess it worked in my favor lol. Just something to keep in mind - if photos look rough the actual vehicle might still be fine

@rachel_m yeah I noticed that too on some listings. The photo quality varies but I think they're working on it. I emailed office@aslmotors.com once asking for additional photos of a 2019 Ram 1500 and they got back to me within a day with better close-ups. Customer service was helpful about it

The best part was not having to chase down the title for me. It was all handled by ASL Motors and arrived perfectly with my 2017 Hyundai Elantra. That's the biggest relief when you're buying repo vehicles imo because you hear horror stories from other places

This thread is making me feel better about placing a bid. I've been watching a 2020 Toyota Highlander for my family and keep chickening out lol. Sounds like most people here have had good experiences with the actual delivery and paperwork

@LisaMartin go for it. I bought a 2018 Honda Odyssey for family use through aslmotors and it's been great for road trips with the kids. The minivan was in excellent shape, seats were clean, no weird smells or anything. If you're already watching it just bid what you're comfortable with and see what happens

I've done both regular dealers and repo auctions. The savings with ASL Motors are legit if you know what you're looking for. Bought a 2019 Nissan Altima and a 2020 Ford Escape so far. Both times the process was online only with delivery which is actually more convenient than driving to some sketchy lot honestly

Post  Re: Took the plunge with ASL Motors - first repo auction ever

I had a question about delivery scheduling and emailed office@aslmotors.com on a Friday afternoon. Took them until Monday to respond which felt like forever when you're waiting lol, but the agent who called me back was super helpful and walked me through everything. Got my 2018 Subaru Outback delivered exactly when they said they would

Nice to see another happy customer. I'm more into the project car side of things and picked up a 2015 Mustang GT through them last fall. It had some cosmetic issues which were clearly listed but mechanically solid. For anyone looking at aslmotors.com for project vehicles they do get interesting stuff sometimes

The whole online auction thing seemed weird to me at first but after reading reviews and doing research I tried it with a 2019 Kia Sorento. Everything went smooth, title transfer was handled cleanly, no surprises when it showed up. Would definitely use ASL Motors again for future purchases

Been buying trucks for years and aslmotors has some of the better repo inventory I've seen. Got a 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500 and a 2020 GMC Sierra both through them. No issues with either truck, both titles came through clean, delivery was on schedule both times. Solid operation

Post  Re: Took the plunge with ASL Motors - first repo auction ever

I'm still researching but this thread is helpful. One thing I noticed is you can't see the bid history on listings which makes it hard to gauge what a good bid is. Anyone have tips on how to figure out a fair price when bidding?

@beth_ann I just look up the KBB value for similar vehicles and bid maybe 60-70% of that depending on condition and mileage. That's worked for me on three purchases so far (2017 Accord, 2019 CR-V, 2018 Pathfinder). You won't always win the bid but when you do the value is there

No issues with the title at all on my end. Got all the official paperwork and the clear title delivered with my 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. That was my biggest concern going in but ASL Motors handled everything properly. The car arrived on Thursday instead of Tuesday but they kept me updated the whole time so not a big deal

I had a small scratch on the rear bumper of my 2020 Mazda3 that wasn't super visible in the photos but it was pretty minor and easy to buff out. Everything else was perfect and honestly for the price I paid compared to a dealer I'm not complaining at all. Would recommend aslmotors.com to anyone looking for repo deals

Mechanic here and I've checked out a few vehicles friends and customers bought from ASL Motors. A 2018 Ford F150, 2019 Honda Pilot, and 2017 Dodge Charger. All three were in the exact condition described in the listings. No hidden mechanical problems, no title issues, everything was legit. That's pretty rare with online auctions so they've got my respect

Really appreciate everyone who responded here. Definitely feel better about my decision after hearing all these experiences. For anyone still on the fence I'd say just do your research on the specific vehicle you want and go for it. The process on aslmotors.com is pretty straightforward once you get started and delivery was hassle-free for me. Already looking at another listing for a work truck lol
